  • Comment The few clearly Bronze Age strata indicate a settlement finding, which, however, can not be further differentiated. In 2006, two clearly recognizable and powerful cultural layers were identified, which prove the prehistoric settlement of this place. Both horizons showed a multitude of differently shaped, partly multi-phase mine findings as well as pole settlements and were clearly differentiated on the basis of the find material in (A) early and middle or (B) Late Bronze Age. The findings of the Early and Middle Bronze Age are superimposed by fine sediments (thickness 0.4 m) and associated with the siltation of a wet zone. From 23. 6. to 25. 8. 1937 were on the "small parade ground" behind the castle "Gayenhofen" from the "Vorarlberger Landesmuseumsverein" and the "Homeland Security and Museum Association Bludenz" under the direction of Adolf Hild on parcel No. 915 ( north of the path parcel no. 3592) at plant of a road by the head of the advanced training school Karl Hane discovered prehistoric settlements of the late Hallstatt and Latènezeit with predominantly Melauner culture, under a Murbruch layer remains of Bronze Age residential buildings, which covered a total area of over 300 m², exposed. In October 1938, the 2 week long excavations continued east of the 1937 investigated area. There, the prehistoric buildings seem to have found their natural destination through the mighty undercut cliff. Apart from a niche with shards of the Hallstatt culture and a handle remainders of a razor made of bronze hardly essential was to be determined after this side. The older cultural stratum, which was cut in 1937 under a climatic deterioration attributable to 1000 years before Christ, does not extend beyond hearth A to the east. - In 1938, a northeastern excavation along the street of 1937, several older hearths came to light in this older cultural layer, which will be part of the (more recent) urn field culture. Enigmatic is a double-row drywall, but which belongs to the older layer. Shards of a vessel of the Hallstatt-C stage found near the clay ceiling can not be explained otherwise than that the last overburden of the gallows ("gallows-barn") took place in this period. In the pastures above the test layer, there were scattered posts and a large hearth with traces of fire that point to the La Tène period. The excavations carried out in July 1938 on the northeastern side of the small parade ground for military buildings confirmed the earlier assumption that there were no prehistoric buildings in that area. On the other hand, Hild found in the construction of the horse stables north of the city hospital, thus at a considerable distance, traces of the Latène period, which on the one hand for the greater extent of the settlement, but on the other hand speak for the formation of the offered by Galgentobel gravel cone on the 1938 this district of Bludenz stands at the city's hubs, at that time was already completed.
