  • Comment The multi-phase area comprised seven buildings, which could be assigned by dry stone walls, beam gullies, support stones and post holes. The maximum 0.35 m wide foundation ditches of the residential buildings were filled with stones that had served to keep the in-sleeper beam-post construction-technique-built house walls dry. The threshold beams originally placed on the dry foundations were also fixed by upright stone material. The corners of the buildings were also stabilized with stanchions. The post pits and support stones situated along and within the timber trenches probably also served to strengthen the walls, while the piles supporting the roof beams were probably anchored in the pits in the middle of the buildings. The framework of the walls was filled with wickerwork, which was spread with clay. This was evidenced on the one hand by the numerous salvaged, heat-tamped shantles with rod impressions. A beginning of the settlement activity at the transition from the late Bronze Age to the early Iron Age can be assumed, as well as a settlement period throughout the Iron Age. In summary, two Iron Age usage sequences - the younger settlement period 1 and the underlying settlement period 2 - were worked out on the examined area. Stratigraphically, building 1 to building 6 are the settlement period 2 and building 7 is the only building attributed to settlement period 1. Due to the find material, the settlement activity can generally be dated to the late Hallstatt period until the early La Tène period (Ha D to LT B, circa 620-250 BC). Although a Late Bronze Age / Early Iron Age visit to the area can be detected by a decorated with fingerstip fringe edge shard, building findings from this period are missing and also the singular occurrence of the older finds emphasized that a settlement activity can be excluded at this time on the examined area.
