Site Name | Absam |
Description | Absam is located on the edge of the Karwendel mountains near the medieval town of Hall in Tyrol and the provincial capital Innsbruck at an altitude of 632 m above sea level. The highest point of the community is the 2725 m high "Große Bettelwurf". Absam is one of the MARTHA villages. In the areal of the church Saint Magdalena north of Hall in Tyrol a site for production of salt could be determined. Saint Magdalena is located on a terrace in the northern slopes of the Haller Zunterkopf at 1287 m above sea level. The almost circular forest clearing with the monastery church and the former "Kaplanei" (house for the chaplain), which is now an inn, is located approximately in the middle of the Hall Valley. For hikers, there is the escape route, which was created at the time of salt mining, because he was exposed due to its location in the northern slopes less the risk of avalanches from Bettelfwurfmassiv. In winter, a toboggan run is prepared by Saint Magdalena through the Halltal. |
